Commercialising new technology is never easy and building large projects takes time particularly when the regulatory landscape is moving so much.
I did not read anywhere or hear anything today that suggested the primary focus of KPO was changing.
I thought management clearly outlined the regulatory changes and the opportunities they may create for the company.
I believe anyone selling today may have got the bottom of the market.
It was a powerful presentation by people who have a very successful track record in building and selling multi million dollar power businesses.
It will be interesting to look at the share price in a couple of weeks after the message outlined today is digested by intelligent and unbiased investors as opposed to frustrated amateur day traders who can't even read a presentation.
The message I took from the presentation is;
!.They have sufficient funds to execute phase 1 which is the financing of stage 1 Saddle Hills.
2.They are in discussions with multiple lenders and equity participants but will not be in a position to close
until the regulatory landscape is set.One of those is the financing arm of Siemens.
3.They continue to pursue capital light models where they will generate cash as a project developer
4.As a developer they are chasing 4 very large (200 MW to 400 MW) combined cycle gas fired power projects with next to no emissions using new sequestered carbon capture technology.These projects would require capital outlays of between $3000 million and $5000 million and at 4 per cent have the potential to generate free carried interests and development fees of between $120 million and $200 million.They are looking for these projects to come on stream by 2027 and are closing on the first site.
5.KPO is looking at obtaining US Government support for a geothermal project in the US using Kalina technology.
There are no major institutions on the KPO register.I suspect this is about to change.
