The current reporting on a coal price cap is confusing misleading and bordering on being manipulative.
Current headlines infers all coal is subject to a price Cap because the price of coal is currently $400/tonne U/S - Nowhere are any power stations paying this money for coal.
Centennial coal is NSW biggest supplier and it has long term contracts at prices below $180/tonne
Qld owns its power supply mines, and Victoria has its Brown Coal so what is it they are achieving in these states.
The Media are inferring all coal is subject to a Price Cap which has caused panic in the Share Market - they fail to realise it is only for coal used to provide electricity in Australia - not for anything else - it is essentially a Centenial Coal problem which I’m sure they will be compensated for
