A couple of years ago I heard a Qld police officer talking about his role in bringing down a international porn network. This is how.
By mistake someone stumbled onto a secret login area on a very normal website. (can't recall if it was the police in Qld or someone that gave them the information)
The Policeman went undercover on this site. Behind the normal website once he login. Was a completely hidden world containing video areas, forum chats, photo areas all dedicated to child porno
The great thing is they brought it down.
The best thing people can do is report anything stumble on to the police.
The police use the images or videos to try to locate the children. Often the children that feature on these sites will also have normal photo with the porn stuff. They look at these images for details that may help identify where the child might live. Could be a street sign - interesting detail on a building.
They have help alot of children this way. In the interview I heard. They talked about one girl, who they have watched (the police) for years grow up and they can't locate her.
I think the interview was on about 3 years ago on radio National
