I'm trying to figure out the logic behind lending out your shares to be shorted also. Understand fees/interest may be earnt in lending out your shares, but at the expense of having your share value devalued significantly as your stock is manipulated. You could only assume you would allow this, knowing it was only temporary, and were very confident that the value of your shares would be far greater in the future when they are returned. Why else would you allow your share value to be manipulated down?
