At last. Finally the Libs have made a stand. I feel that this is a positive because they are now committed to talking up the alternatives, something which has been sorely missing from the mainstream debate.
Between now and the next election , worldwide debt is going to become a real issue. With China announcing their first trade deficit (yes deficit) in 17 years, the focus will be who will fund all this government borrowing.
The answer will inevitably lead to the conclusion that rates are going up and then the issue of affordability of australias debt will come into focus.
Non essential spending where there is an alternative will be hotly debated if the Libs are any good. Enter the NBN debate.... hot political potatoe- perhaps Rudds Nemisis?
