Newmont has also been noted as having in interest in the past, will they let/risk Newcrest getting Lihir?
It's likely that if Newcrest or another does offer another bid, that it would be at or above $4.00, so it's not such an illogical buy. Risky, like all trades, but it could pay off. IMO of course.
