.....but there plenty of patient problems. There are the smokers, the heavy drinkers, the drug users, the obese, the unfit, the bad drivers, and the careless. Recovering from an operation before Xmas I was amazed how ungrateful, foolish, and reckless the other patients were. They took for granted that the medical profession was just there for their convenience, regardless of their own, self inflicted bad health or dangerous actions. It is no wonder that hospitals struggle to cope with
the influx of patients who are in poor shape to start with. My advice to anyone in the categories i've mentioned, don't expect the same soft treatment they have got away with with in main street. Get yourself in good shape because hospitals do not like losers, unnecessary deaths or waste of scarce resources. A lot more money should be spent on educating people to be aware of the damage they are doing to their bodies. For example, smokers should be told that their bad lungs, poor circulation and other ailments will effect their ability to have successful operations for other health problems. Young drivers should be aware that a crash at 60kms/hr has an 80% chance of a fatality.
