The gas subsector rightly remains very angry.
The stupidity of this Labor/Greens policy is that investment will be smashed, but some companies will be able to switch that funding to other nations.
This whole charade is doing Australia's reputation immense damage. Don't think that other nations and their leaders aren't watching.
As Robert Gottliebsen commented, Africa has moved away from policies that scare investors. We're doing the reverse.
I predict Victoria will be among the hardest hit states from this policy, because its 6.7 million population uses 65 per cent of total Australian gas demand in winter. (We're having a 14 December - ! - mini winter tonight in Melbourne).

Another bone of contention, according to one person who participated in the Tuesday call, was the ACCC’s failure to define a “new gas field”. Officials were unable to explain whether the definition would apply to new wells, or a gas basin, or the expansion of an existing field.
Several participants described Treasury officials struggling to answer questions.
“You couldn’t have found a more useless lot of muppets than the ACCC,” seethed one observer.
