"BHP’s four weeks exclusive access to OZ Minerals’ books is due to expire at the start of next week, however it’s able to get an automatic one-week extension (to Boxing Day) should it re-confirm its $28.25 a share offerand promise it’s still working to get the deal done."

"One loose end is how BHP and OZ structure the deal. OZ left room for a pre-deal special dividend, in what appears to be an attempt to release trapped franking credits. Any special dividend would come off the $28.25 a share headline price."
