I note that in the WSJ today 12/14/22 there is a minor front page article ‘EU to tax Imports based on Emissions’. This is noteworthy with the EU reaching an agreement to impose a tax on imports based on the greenhouse gases emitted to make them, inserting climate-change regulation for the first time into the rules of global trade. It goes on to say that Europe’s carbon border tax adds to trans Atlantic trade tensions as policy makers in Europe and the US try to position their industries to catch the coming wave of investment in low-carbon technologies. The tax is expected to come in October 2023 and first impact most energy-intensive industries: aluminum, steel, fertilizers, cement and hydrogen production but grow quickly thereafter first to report and then to actually pay the tax! The carbon agenda is moving forward in ways that will increasingly support Lynas and the coming wave indeed!!!
