. One example of a hematite breccia-hosted system is the Vulcan Cu-Au prospect, 30 km NE of the Olympic Dam deposit (Fig. 1B). A Re-Os molybdenite age of 1586 ± 8 Ma was obtained by Reid et al. (2013), consistent with other ages for IOCG mineralization across the province. What is noteworthy about the Vulcan prospect, however, is a SHRIMP zircon U-Pb age for the host hematite-sericite-chlorite–altered and brecciated granite (1743 ± 7 Ma), firmly within the 1750–1740 Ma timeframe for a post-Donington, pre-Hiltaba intrusive and extrusive magmatic event in the Gawler Craton (Reid et al., 2013, and references therein). Importantly, volcanic rocks of the same age are known to be intercalated with sediments of the Wallaroo Group (Fanning et al., 1988, Fanning et al., 2007, Fraser and Neumann, 2010).
