What makes you think Core told Elon/Tesla to get lost?

Elon/Tesla are interested in the downstream processing opportunity here and with the relatively small quantity of spod available to them atm, the time/money investment for the hydroxide plant and the trade off between a “price deal” and their investment is not right for Tesla atm.

We have been told to prove up production, prove that an hydroxide plant is worth the time/money by for example, resource expansion…initial 4yr offtakes with others will expire and just prior to that, Tesla will be back in 2-3yrs at lower prices, production/resource expansion proven up and then Tesla will take a large slice of the pie and help establish the hydroxide plant.

What most don’t realise is that Elon/Tesla have been interested in having a much larger footprint in Australia for quite a while, but our government is to blame for why this has not happened. We have been behind the 8ball on the renewable energy/EV movement since the get go.
Tesla rely on tax concessions and gov subsidies etc to keep overall costs down. A considerable amount of the costs involved with new plant are usually generated by the powers that be at relevant location, just to have Tesla there…For obvious reasons.
Aus gov is not interested in “helping” Tesla have a serious presence in Aus, let alone anyone in the EV space for that matter.
Too far indebted to fossil fuel reliance and exports to do anything to hinder that machine for now…
Tesla should have a gigafactory here by now. Would be sensational on many levels but not going to happen for a long, long time…
