On the contrary, a reset of the risk means you have invested more and set the bar higher for both potential loss or gain. It doesn't affect your average but the double down and half up does. Your overall buys will make your average and since you are committed to chasing it down, your bank/risk prepared to lose, your average follows you down or up.
