Hi benoit2828,
I notice references to “long-term holders” on several HC threads (I’m usually envious). And plenty of negative references to short-term holders, described as speculative etc. Is there a tangible value to a company that its shares be mostly held by long-term holders? I haven’t been investing for long, and I’ve only held WHC (only a small holding) for a few months now, so I’m probably considered short-term. I’ve bought several small parcels in that period given my longer-term view of WHC’s potential.
I guess what I’m clumsily asking is, if a company has a high-proportion of short-term shareholders, can that have a negative effect on SP? Is that sentiment aimed mostly at investors who don’t intend to hold shares for long? Can that be damaging to a company like WHC?
Happy for anyone to jump in on this. The question definitely isn’t specific to WHC.
P.S. I think this is hands-down the best thread I follow on HC. There’s a ton of intelligence on here.
