The BG offer was pre Org's deal with ConocoPhillips. If anyone wanted to takeover ORG now they would have to own 50% of APLNG with CP. The way APLNG is structured CP owns 50% of the reserves etc.
Plus as you mention the rest of ORG's business would presumably need to be sold off. All a bit of a hassle when you have the likes of STO without these complication.
It's not impossible but I do see it as significantly less likely than STO.
If STO did get aquired by a major that would leave ORG (assuming STO wasn't taken over by WPL or BHP) the only ASX listed co with exposure to Queensland CSG. Not a bad position to be in either?
