It would go too far off topic but the answer is mostly no, I don’t blame the kids.

I blame the generations ahead of them who failed to educate them and instead left them vulnerable to politicians, corporates and ignorant school teachers who now use these young kids for their own selfish political and financial purposes.

That said, I would still expect a high school age kid to be able to think critically and (for example) realise or at least be open minded to the fact that fossil fuels are the prime reason why the quality of life on earth is better than at any other time in its millions or billions of years of the existence of life on earth. And that if you dismantle coal oil and gas, then future generations are likely to die younger and have far lower quality of lives. Never mind the poor billions in third world country who will never end up being able to improve their own lives due to energy shortages caused by refusing them access to fossil fuels.

Then again, I work in a relatively senior corporate role and I watch daily as grown adults openly spout ESG nonsense despite having no idea what it actually means or represents. But they do know that their $200k income depends on only speaking positively about it.

So maybe it’s reasonable that if adults can’t (or won’t) think for themselves, then maybe it’s not reasonable to expect kids to be able to sort fact from fiction with all this green energy crap.
