There was an interview with CEO Chris Burns awhile ago and this question was raised.
As the change from Gen 2 to Gen 3 was not a full product design, more so changing one part to be able to add additional threw put of the system, the validation process is likely to be significantly less than starting from scratch. His words were about 6 months, not years for validation that has been occurring with the Gen 2 systems set up at Corporate Place.
Novonix got the first Gen 3s online at Riverside in October, so they should hopefully be already be starting that process.
