I was in Laverton for 4 years as a underground miner at the Lancefield gold mine.
They just started drilling the Mt Weld then .
Laverton was a thriving town back then .Two underground mines Lancefield and Windarra.
The old Desert Inn pub did a roaring trade.
It's a big area taken up just to refine the product
