NHC Chairman R. Millner 19.10.22 said renewables are not currently fully viable, since, unlike coal, they can't guarantee baseload power; & he also pertinently said“They (Japanese energy providers) are concerned that it (the Australian thermal coal price) is going to stay well above $US300 for a few years,” he said...
Mr Millner said government policy in Australia, where it had become very difficult to get coal mines approved, wasdistorting pricesand could increase global greenhouse gas emissions.
“Our coal (inc. WHC 6000kcal- my words) is the CLEANEST (my emphasis) coal in the world. My understanding is emissions would be reduced by 25-30 per cent if everyone used Australian coal instead of Indian coal and Russian coal and Chinese coal,” he said.
