One of Obama's winning election platforms was that he
and Steven Chu,were going to put a lid on coal as an
energy source. As did Rudd with his CCS dramatics.
[remember?]
Darwin's theory of evolution suggests that first came
the baboon and then came humans..but politics suggest
that it could go either way.
"Inside Coal"..states that market conditions for coal
buyers have deteriorated rapidly in the past few weeks
with India pushing hard for more supplies, and there is
still no decrease in China's staggering demand.
Australian and Canadian hard coking coal producers have
been all but out of product for some time, and the U.S.
has begun to evaporate as a viable source to meet the
"crushing demand".
Compared to their Australian and U.S. counterparts,
Canadian coal producers face added geological and
logistical challenges. The majority of Canada's coal
mines are located in rugged mountainous terrain.
Coal produced at the mines has a long haul route to
pacific ports,on average between 1,000 to 1,400kms,
again over rugged,mountainous terrain.
Many buyers have turned to Russia :( for supplies
of coal, but the proverbial handwriting appears to be
on the wall, coking coal prices are going to be high
with no light at the end of the tunnel.
Most U.S. low-volume coal is committed and domestic
buyers have their hands on their wallets ready to go.
One voice within the coal industry stated that "you're
not going to have enough coal, and the demand is greater
than you can produce".

Little wonder Peabody and New Hope are doing battle
over Macarthur..for they know what is coming.
The planet is becoming more dependent on coal than ever,
with little chance of that scenario changing any time
soon.
Based on the above,a Major source of energy for this
Country..will eventually come from our "deep wealth"
in the ground, instigated by a brick wall of research
and foresight, by men such as Len Walker and Micheal
Blinderman.
The copy seen in National newspapers this week regarding
UCG and its merits, are a mere shadow of reporting that
lay ahead [IMO].
Politicians can only roll with the inevitable surge
that UCG will create..for the worlds traditionally
accessible coal is facing the same dilemma as oil..
each day there is less of it.
Finally..to Mr Rudd and Cohorts,[assuming normal IQs ]
"UCG is here for those who dare to be great"
COOEE...COOEE..
