LOL love it - but i am sure they can relocate the biological ecosystem of the lakes, drain the lakes of water and build the mine, after mining it close up the hole in the ground, refill the lake with the drained water and welcome the fishery back to their old home.
Not impossible but so was landing on the moon. Everything is doable
