@db76, people who survive bullying / sexual harassment / assault have to live with themselves for the rest of their lives. For some that proives too much.
As just one example, I've known women who claimed they were raped who became obsessive about washing because they could not escape feeling 'unclean and violated'. Tragically, I've seen teenagers do self-harm and even commit suicide after claiming they'd been 'violated'.
Financial settlements such as those organised by Pell for the Catholic Church don't exorcise the mental torment victims suffer. My own mother never revealed to us until just a few months before she passed away that she'd been raped aged just ten years old, having carried that burden with her for more than seventy years.
My expectation is that everyone will be treated equally before the LAW - that's NOT what happens in Australia wherein victims are required to subject themselves to highly intrusive and appallingly offensive lines of questioning while those alleged to be responsible just sit with their mouths shut; protected by an archaic and essentially male-focused protection racket.
