i use Firefox for HC and Chrome for my trading platform (Commsec).
After I open several HC pages at the 1 time - e.g. Day Trading Morning, and then a few stock Threads referred to in that DT Thread, the latter soon mounts up the bytes because of the 000's of posts made each day across all the Threads on every topic.
e.g. at 21.02 on 12 Jan the progressive Post # was 65665642
by 22.11 on 13 Jan the progressive Post # was 65685906
i.e. 20,000 posts in 24 hours.
When I notice my desktop begin to slow down loading, I then switch to Task Manager and click on "End Process" on the "biggest" page open - or "stored" which is often > 1m bytes?
My screen then tells me I've just "crashed a Tab" so I reload it, as suggested, which then seems to resolve the CPU?, at least for me.
And being an old fart too, I still use Windows 7.
When Windows 10 came out a few years back, the re-sellers were only wanting 10 bucks to download the Upgrade - i.e. if it ain't broke, don't fix it. So IMO, it's not your Laptop. Good luck.
