bauxite miner's plan queried

' Conservationists have accused a company proposing to expand its bauxite mining operations of failing to provide the State's environmenttal watchdog with a full plan for the expansion.

Earlier this year the EPA announced that BRL's Bindoon project would be subjected to its highest possible level of scrutiny in the wake of community complaints about dust and noise.

But yesterday Conservation Council Piers Verstegen called on the EPA to suspend the assessment of the BRL project to ensure that all its plans had been submitted and were being evaluated.

BRL MD Dan Tenardi rejected any suggestion that it was proceeding by stealth or attempting to avoid scrutiny.'
