Just consider this:
If someone wanted a particular technology, but needed to control a company to get hold of it, how would they get it?
If they approached the major shareholder, and said: "lets cut a deal". First strategy was to try control the company holding the technology. That came close, but it didn't work.
Next move - dump shares, and hold it down, causing all other shareholders to consider getting out in case it crashes and burns.
I'm not saying this is what's happening, but its a possibility IMO.
