It's a can of worms, for sure. Determinism doesn't permit alternate actions. Random or probabilistic events are not a choice, they happen randomly or probabilistically without input or regulation through will.
So, what is 'will?' What is It's role and function? How and when does it emerge? What can it do? If will is 'free,' free from what? Free to do what?
