Unfortunately, due to the drawn out, tight-lipped process of the past 6 months, the fever that drove MEO to 0.80 last year has dissapeared. The rest of the market has had a great run in the past 10 weeks while MEO has been in limbo, waiting for this announcement. That scenario has killed the speccy, short term interest that send stocks like MEO on their runs (in MEOs case).

As a company, I think MEO are in a very strong position now from which they will build on throughout the year, culminating (hopefully!) in striking the mother load as a xmas present to all. However, as a speccy stock it is very sick. The emotion and hope that drives speccies on their massive ups and downs has evaporated from MEO.

MEO needs to rely on cold hard facts to make the market believe that value exists. I can't see this happening (to the degree that will drive the price like we saw last year, or in other speccies that still have "the fever") until FIRB gives approval, the rig is spudded, and the bit is on its way to the gassy goodness.

MEO will be a trader's stock until it ramps up pre-drill. If you plan to hold until pre-drill, then hold. Don't look at the share price. Forget about bots and manipulators. Just let it sit in the drawer until xmas.

My big frustration is that I need some cash in the short term, and I need to sell MEO to free it up. I had hoped for more (in terms of SP performance), but thats the way it goes when you gamble with speculative stocks (Note: I am very happy with the farm-in outcome - just wish it had come earlier to minimise the level of sickness in the SP).

I suspect a lot of the negative sentiment on these threads is from people in similar situations to me. When I start to feel negativity toward MEO, I remind myself of the 800% I made on QGC, the 500% I made on LNC etc etc. I have had my wins, but I respect there will also be some losses. The way those losses are minimised is 100% determined by YOUR investment decisions.

Whew, another stressful week at work, another vent on HC. Time for a beer.
