nosintap, the current government is not concerned with the substance of the NBN, only the politics, in that the idea sounds great but the homework and delivery are secondary matters. They have the attention span of a child and move on from one bad idea to another with the taxpayer picking up the tab. The latest great diversion, the hospitals plan, with the states having the option of agreeing or it will be imposed on them is typical. This sort of reform deserves a proper debate and properly planned process before it can be implemented. This has been absent from nearly all the big ticket item spends of this government. If the wasted money were to have been spent on health, the government would be very popular indeed an would not require the unbelievable support of the media to maintain its position.
