I don't disagree with your comments, the company needs to be proactive and not sit on their hands.
But, it's a bit of a double edge sword, is my thinking. By pumping the next thing, investors might be less confident about the current play, therefore less inclined to invest.
I'm basing this on my thinking and others that I know who have been/are shareholders.
Whether that thinking is right or wrong doesn't really matter, I'm fine with being wrong.
