I absolutely kept training. There’s nothing about the treatment that requires you to put your life on hold. However, because PPS is a mild anticlotting agent (it’s structurally similar to heparin) my doctor advised me not to do contact sports within 24 hours of injection. So I just scheduled my biweekly injections around my training sessions.

The reason I sought treatment was because my OA restricted my training. I’d gone from 3 or 4 sessions plus weight training sessions down to about one a week of each due to the pain and the recovery time. I was also not nearly as mobile as I used to be. This was pretty disappointing as my long term health plan involves weight training, cardio and mobility to stay healthy and mobile into my old age. So the therapeutic goal and clinical measure of success for my treatment was to increase my training frequency. And it was very successful. I’m back to three sessions a week plus weights and could train more if I wanted. I’m not limited by the OA at all, so on our chosen clinical outcome measure it’s been very successful.
