The Japanese Consul/ govt. has today complained to the NSW govt. about its plan to force NSW coal mines to reserve 7-10% of thermal coal supplies for local us- saying it endangers the trading & diplomatic relationships, & Australia's reputationas a reliable supplier. Japan may prefer to invest in more "safe' countries.
Idemitsu, owner ovf coal mines in NSW, has made similar complaints.
BHP is athreatening to close its Mt Arthur thermal mine in NSW earlier, possibly by 2026, due to the price cap on coal proposals etc.
