In that same interview Coby anticipated that engagement with Tier-1 fabs was a few years away as WBT gradually scaled its operations and made inroads with Tier-2 fabs. The industry demand for ReRam, along with the validation of ReRam as a viable solution to overcome the cost and node constraints of flash, with TSMC producing its own version for Apple has completely changed the market. WBT is now in discussions with several Tier-1 fabs.
Engineering costs alone in next two years, for a number of fabs/customers can possibly be in the multi-millions (assuming for every product/fab/customer the NRE is a lump sum payment of approx. $500k-$1.5m). The big money will obviously be royalty payments.
Perhaps not even Coby expected the take-up and interest of ReRam by Tier-1s to be this soon. It's all happening, seems so sudden, it's actually been consistent hard work by management and the slow burn behind the scenes that's been taking place for years to bring us to where we are now!
As our good mate @Harmattom says, 2023 a banner year for WBT.
