I mentioned in one of my posts that given the cost of chemo (approximately $20K), I think a lot of dog owners would not part with that money knowing it's terminal anyway.
Say only 10% of owners pay that $20K. I love my dogs to death, but I very much doubt even I would pay $20K for an extra year, all the while watching them suffer the side effects of said treatment.
Now, I have no idea how what a course of MPL might cost...but let's say it's 25% of that - $5K at a guess. I'd pay that, as I suspect most true dog lovers would. It's 25% of the income for vets, but you might get double the number of owners take it up - still a win for the vets, the dog has minimal side effects and you still get extra time with your pooch so I still say we would become the new standard of care, with vets not missing out on their share of the pie.
obviously those figures are plucked out of thin air.
