Ozgem, I concede something has changed in the last 30 years or so.....there is no longer the rapport with cabin crew that existed then....when the request for a scotch soon as the wheels retract was met with a tap on the shoulder...and the Scotch soon as the seatbelt sign was switched off...delivered with a smile. And the almost party-like atmosphere on board to holiday destinations such as Bali back then....with a steward hovering nearby most of the time with a refill...
But think about it.....not only has the demeanor of cabin crew changed somewhat, but also that of the passengers! We, the flying public have changed....people are less friendly to them, more demanding, and rather obnoxious when plied with drink. I would definitely NOT ply pasengers with drink these days if I was a steward, as they used to way back with no ill effects beyond lots of laughter. Maybe passengers are to blame to a degree?
