This discussion makes it sound like a great deal; the head at Kidston (180-220m) is simply not economic, so getting an annual inflation-adjusted return is a great deal for Genex. To be economic, according to Blakers, you need 600+m of head, and this is what will be built going forward. Moreover, Blakers considers Genex to be principally a wind and solar company, and separately considers FNQ wind and solar to be key to a sustainable east coast grid, because the wind is uncorrelated with the rest of the grid, and because of the good winter solar resource. Got me thinking about Kingston Wind as the company maker, and a lot more Qld solar! Well worth a listen.
