As somebody who started the questioning, I just wanted to thank everyone who replied with their setups and general guidance. I actually found it a very interesting read.

Benny, thanks for stepping in here. Appreciated. In defence of the others, I think everyone here is or should be mature enough to know that an account or fin advisor is a must. But I agree, it must be said. And most, if not all, of the posters did caveat at least one of their posts saying not financial advise and to seek professional guidance.

I know I need too, and will. But from somebody who does their own tax every year, I’m pretty unrehearsed in tax setups and the breadth of what is perhaps possible, and was just curious on what’s out there, general feedback on what others have found. Armed with this, I want to self research to aid in conversions with the professionals. I’ve heard of horror stories even in dealing with the professionals, so it can’t hurt in discussing tax, superannuation and navigating the waters in a very general sense.

General, non financial advice shouldn’t be taboo. There may be out of date information, wrong information, correct information and all in-between mixed in. The above chats had no malicious intent. Just people sharing their experience. It’s up to each individual to as you say, speak with an account or fin advisor. But in the interim, it gives a point of reference for everyone to perhaps learn a little something.

Anyway. At the very least, the conversation has highlighted that people need to think long term. Be educated, and protect assets legally.

Looks like I could be one day moving to NZ to become a tax resident. jks
