trans "management" is something I find very difficult. I accept that each person has the right to decide for themselves, but many going into trans therapies are children who aren't capable of imagining how their views will change as normal growth and maturation mechanisms kick in. some who decided to change gender in young adulthood regret their decisions later in life. there aren't yet any reliable stats on these things.

its a massive ethical matter that has had a lot of push behind it, and now the push back is building (see NSW bill by Alex Greenwich).

I've know a lot of trans people since I was 17. more than half a century later the greater number of trans people, reflecting back on perhaps a hundred people, are confused and drug-seeking, manipulative and some even criminal. but this is my experience and there are many too who are comfortable (at last) with their adult decision to change their gender.

Greenwich's bill wants to prevent children from being encouraged to want gender change. I'd like to see this extended to all under 21. after that age, let them decide, but they should be paying the full cost, not subsidised by medicare.

As for Peter Singer, hes a philosopher and as such looks from wider perspectives and ethics. I think you label him too easily.
