I think there’s a firm correlation with GF purchasing CBRam from Renesas with their freshly inked chips supply deal with GM - both announced on the 9th Feb. They know it well having a license deal from Dialog to produce it (before Renasas buy out) since 2020. North American IC production to supply American companies guarantees them heavy benefits from the US Chips Act. It’s got similar tolerances to wbt’s combined with ultra low power consumption - perfect for EV’s which GM are investing 35 billion to 2026. If not already automotive qualified it must be close so I reckon GF have run with it out of necessity. Additionally TSMC are now supplying Tesla through their new Arizona plant come 2024 and imo all evidence points towards their reram being part of that arrangement.
Contrary to what some think about cbram using exotic materials, the main ion transfer involved in it is from copper.
