I don't believe it's a hedge at all.
Talnode-C requires the Vittangi graphite for it's grade, flake size, conductivity, crystalinty etc. This provides the performance and commercial attractivenes as it can be sold as a synthetic replacement at higher prices. But Talnode-C could not easily be replaced with another graphite source as the graphite source is what makes it most attractive. This means scale up is limited to what the Swedes will let them mine.
Talnode Si on the other hand is made with few layer graphene which can be liberated from any old source of graphite, it doesn't matter. The point MT is making is that there really is no limit to scale up potential for Talnode Si as it could be produced globally from any source of graphite using Talga's properitary technology, and not just Vittangi. They could even license the tech to others if they wanted and take a cut.
The value for Talnode Si is in the tech, not the graphite.
