That program, which deals with the rise and fall of bronze age civilizations in the eastern Mediterranean and Near East, keeps recurring in the windmills of my mind and I find myself wanting to know more about it.
For example, the Hittites have just been a name to me or maybe something I zipped through in high school ancient history. Just a few.moments ago I recall a text book/novel we were issued with at the time - don't know which neurological filing cabinet that came from - and it was I think called Bran the Bronzesmith. There you go, Google has it, first print 1939, reprinted 2015. Must be worth something if reprinted.
But those Hittites must have been something else to build a huge empire in a short time geologically speaking and its sudden collapse may have been at least partially due to massive earthquakes, probably worse than in Turkey/Syria today.
Still, when speaking of empire building & collapse, you can't go past Napoleone Buonaparte.
