It's a bit of a simplistic argument. "Life ain't fair" did not come from people with assets not being entitled to welfare. It applies to people who have experienced adversity, or not having the same opportunities as others, or being born into poverty, or being victims of abuse or crime, or a myriad of any other events of bad luck and misfortune. How do you know what happens in other people's lives?

Do you know how impossibly difficult it is to save and acquire assets when you are struggling to pay the bills? Did you know that when you are poor and have financial difficulties that nobody will give you finance to dig yourself out? It's a spiral trap. Life is not fair because it is weighted against the have -nots.

Life on the pension is nothing to aspire to. I never see the pensioners down the meat aisle, yet see a lot of them in the pet food section. If you are fortunate enough to self-support consider yourself lucky. You're doing better than many.
