The 'stacking' days are not over. Tell that to central banks, China and India. They hope you think like that. They have been buying gold out of the west for decades while our currencies have been losing purchasing power. That is one of the reasons why gold is a being bought. Its a store of value. The headlines about most stuff, is just BS.
It is more than something you put in a vault. People collect it, banks buy it, people buy it, coins, its used in industry and jewellery. Many of the so called 'investors' who bought craptonite were destroyed. 99% of that crap is a fad and going or already gone. It wont recovery, because their isnt anything there. There will be some winners, just as there was out of the first internet boom. Meanwhile, gold chugs along.
A 'token' compared to a real hard asset is not wise. It gets you on a ride. Young people haven't had a bad day, until crypto fell over. Might be a warning in that. Lets hope someone turns up and pays more for it. Gold is the original money and still is. I cant fight history or the current market. ETF's buy and sell, just like the entire world markets. It will be mined, bought and stored for ever. 5000 year track record. FIAT money all goes to hell over time. The US dollar bought an ounce of gold in 1974 for $35 under Nixion coming off the gold standard. It now costs people US$1800 (been to $2000). You could have bought 51.4oz for $1800 in those days. That is now worth US$92,000 (i think thats about A$143k today). Not hard to guess which one held its value. You struggle to go out to dinner on $35 these days. The US dollar is depreciating at a clip, and so is our money.
I am not a gold bug. That is beyond me. I look at the grade etc to work out if the company will work. I dont care what you mine, if it adds up, it adds up. I am not talking gold up either, i dont have too, BC8 has reduced the risk by taking care of the key development points. Risk will always be around though. Mostly short term. If you think the commodity price is volatile and subject to drops, then you better have grade. That goes for anything you own. Quality over quantity.
