Will BRN retain its place in the ASX200 index? I really hope not.
I don't want my super invested in loss-making companies just because retail hype pumped up the MC.
The ASX should review their rules for inclusion IMO. They did come under some scrutiny from the media when companies such as BRN were included.
The index funds holding BRN will be forced to sell, potentially putting downwards pressure on the SP. The good news for holders is that the number of shorts will likely also decrease with less access to borrow shares.
The rebalance announcement is after trading close this Friday, with the actual rebalance occurring 2 weeks afterwards.
Fingers crossed BRN is booted out.
