ABC: Federal government to rewrite cyber laws after Optus, Medibank hacks

In particular, the government would look to reform the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act to possibly include customer data and "systems" in the definition of critical infrastructure, to give government power to intervene in major data breaches.

It will also consider a new Cyber Security Act that would impose new obligations and standards across industry and government.

and from the Guardian:

The (discussion) paper says it is “clear from stakeholder feedback and the increasing frequency and severity of major cyber incidents, that more explicit specification of obligations, including some form of best practice cyber security standards, is required across the economy to increase our national cyber resilience and keep Australians and their data safe.”

The paper also urges the government to lead by example, highlighting the fact that Australian government entities “have a long way to go to properly secure government systems”

So the current self regulated system looks to be in the cross hairs, system and data security to be targeted as compulsory upgrades for business and government by the newly created Home Affairs "Cyber Coordinator". This has to be of value to Archtis with their product suite.
