    Gold miner Lihir Gold (LGL) advanced 3.3pct to $3.79 after it endorsed a sweetened $9.5 billion takeover offer from Newcrest Mining (NCM) but also indicated it was still talking to rival companies. NCM fell 4.3pct to $30.69.
