Jerome is doing the job Jerome is supposed to be doing without fear of or intimidation from a man-baby president. A lot of the inflationary pressure however is coming from the president's initiatives and fiscal policy. Putting the brakes on government spending there would do more to reduce inflation than hiking rates but it is politically unacceptable.
Here the lack of competition in key industries is driving up inflation higher than global factors should, as profit increases have outstripped cost induced price increases.
