Interesting comments @Launched, but I find this one curious:

Where do you get that data point from? All the information from earnings seasons suggests the banks are aggressively pursuing loans still - Comyn and BEN's Baker both noted some were pricing loans below cost of capital to retain/grow market share. Macquarie are growing strongly too. Some of the majors (CBA, NAB) are also talking about focusing on business more, given the better margins.
I'm sure they see a credit slowdown on the horizon which is why they're also fighting hard to retain their back book, but I don't see evidence they looking to actively slow down lending - that's just the environment they're stuck with.
