Exactly, if i could teach younger me back in 2008 (when I first started trading). I would say buy only when you see a company on multi year lows with a market cap over 15 billion and no debt. make sure the dividend returns are greater than the current interest rates.
That's all the information I would have needed to become a millionaire within 10 years of abiding by that information.
