Before the Ukraine War Russian GDP was approx $1.8 Trillion with 17% of GDP debt Also before the war the USA was $23 Trillion GDP with $30 Trillion Debt (130% debt/GDP)
Now for Russia to reach 130% Debt/GDP it can burn $2 Trillion on this war which at the current rate of deficit spending, that's at least 10 years away, IMO.
The USA spent well over $2 Trillion on the post 9/11 M/E wars and that is accumulating at the rate of 2.5% interest since then so long as the USA maintains a Budget Deficit. By 2050 that could be close to $6 Trillion because at present the US has no prospect of paying down debt.
