Whilst it is no one's business why he left for personal reasons (if that was the case), it is not fair to shareholders to give a free kick to shorters who will use the resignation as an opportunity to short further based on market assumptions that bad news is coming, i.e. he was doing a poor job and a guidance confession is coming up. Just needed to state he left for personal reasons which would make complete sense given the upcoming trial.
Poor/naïve BoD decision to announce this way, IMO.
